And then once you become an expert in how they work, you can move on to almost any other icon Webfont out there. It offers about 1,300 fonts for web, desktop, and mobile apps.

4. Octicons

If you want a simple, lightweight icon font, Octicons will be your best choice. Created by GitHub, it now offers a free set of 163 solid-colored icon fonts. This icon pack is currently in version 19.14.0 and totally free.

5. Entypo

Each icon pack features detailed licensing so that designers and developers know exactly how icons can be used. Besides these free icons, IcoMoon also offers premium packs which you can purchase separately.

Smart Things is a one-person studio that focuses on design and front-end development. Its author, Stephen Hutchings, offers two free-to-use icon packs for any UI, be it for a website or native mobile app. These icon packs include Typicons and Microns. 

Typicons are vector icons that are hosted on GitHub for easy access and integration. The latest version of Typicons (v2.1.2) adds 220 icons in solid and outline styles packed in different formats (like SVG or CSS). Meanwhile, Microns include a set of 164 icons packed as web font files for convenience, yet the source SVG files are still available for use.

Icons8 is a huge library that covers more than 1.3 million free-to-use icons with over 45 diverse styles for all your designs. These icons are created by the industry’s best creatives. Therefore, their designs comply with the guidelines of different platforms, be it for websites, Windows, Android, or Apple’s devices. 

One plus of this source is that if you miss an icon, you may send a request form for Icons8 to design it. Further, the source provides over 4,500 animated icons to bring your interfaces to live. These subtle animations are offered for free in the GIF format.

9. Feather

Feather is an open-source collection of 287 simply beautiful icons. Each icon has a default size of 24×24 with a stroke width of 2px. However, you can freely customize these icons to fit your user interface projects. All Feather icons now are available in SVG files.
