Hello I'm Ha Truong
Be Thankful in All Things
Hello, I’m Ha Truong, the Co-Founder and COO of Designveloper. My journey with Designveloper began in 2013, alongside my partner and CEO, Hung Vo. Together, we have built a leading web and software development company in Vietnam, providing a wide range of services to our clients.
Background
I hail from the beautiful city of Da Lat and moved to Ho Chi Minh City in 2005 to pursue my university education. I majored in Telecommunication – Electronics Engineering Technology and graduated in 2010. After graduation, I interned at Viettel and other companies, but I soon realized that the environment was not suitable for me. Fortunately, an older friend who had started a company offered me a position as a developer, and that’s when I discovered my passion for VoIP.
The Birth of Designveloper
After working for three years, Hung returned to Vietnam with a vision to establish a company. Initially, I was hesitant to leave my stable job and venture into the unknown world of startups. However, after much contemplation, I decided to invest in the company and eventually joined Designveloper full-time. My first role was as a Project Manager (PM) and salesperson, where I focused on winning new projects to ensure the survival of our small team.
Growth and Challenges
In the early days, titles were just labels, and everyone worked as full-stack individuals, handling everything from HR management to customer service and software development. It was a challenging yet exciting experience, especially for someone like me who was naturally shy and unsure about the future. However, as the company grew, we began to define our roles more clearly and build specialized teams.
Responsibilities
In my position as the COO, I am in charge of the company’s operations and this entails coming up with goals and strategies, and handling the financial aspect of the company. I spend a lot of time with Hung to ensure that we are going in the right direction to meet the objectives. Despite the challenges, I have been able to foster a good team that assists me in the management of the company.
Memorable Projects
One of the most memorable projects in our early years was “123 Follow Up,” which was developed with PHP and VoIP. This project was crucial for our survival during the first three years. Although we lacked experience and faced many challenges, it taught us valuable lessons that we applied to future projects like Lumin, which became highly successful.
Philosophy and Advice
At Designveloper, we always encourage learning and development as we understand that the process is ongoing. This means that the titles that one holds are not as significant as the input one is able to offer to the company. We encourage our team members to take on various roles and responsibilities to build a well-rounded skill set.
I would advise others to live a passionate life and aim at doing their best especially when they are young. Emphasize on acquiring skills and knowledge rather than on material possessions. Always take every chance to learn and develop yourself and do not be afraid to try something new. It is much wiser to build yourself up than to accumulate material wealth, especially if you are still young and have many dreams.
I will conclude this by sharing with you my favorite quote: “Be Thankful in All Things”. This quote resonates with me as it reminds us to maintain a positive mindset and be grateful for every experience, shaping our actions in a positive way.
