To work hard is a method of personality training

Hello, I’m Võ Hoàng Mạnh Hùng, also known as Strong Bear, the founder and CEO of Designveloper. I am an entrepreneur, software developer, musician, and martial artist.

Education and Early Career

I graduated as the valedictorian from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology in the year 2010. It was a privilege to be awarded a VEF fellowship to do a PhD in Electrical Engineering at Clemson University in the USA. However, after one semester I changed my mind and switched to Computer Science major and got a master’s degree although I was offered to continue with a PhD.

At some level of my mind, I knew that I wanted to become an entrepreneur. After obtaining my degree from Clemson University in 2012 and then coming back to Vietnam, I joined BTM Global Consulting as a Senior Software Developer for 6 months. At this time, I teamed up with friends to start Designveloper. This was in April 2013.

Berklee College of Music

In March 2019, I was accepted to Berklee College of Music, the largest independent music school in the world. This was a significant shift in my career, and I am currently pursuing double majors in Electronic Production & Design and Songwriting, along with double minors in Video Game Scoring and Electronic Performance.

The Journey of Designveloper

Designveloper has expanded over the years from a small company that was started with only six employees to a medium-sized business with more than one hundred employees. Our goal is to assist small companies and start-ups to transform their concepts into tangible and valuable products. We are proud of the fact that we produce successful products that enable clients to solve business issues and grow.

Challenges and Growth

The initial years were challenging, with Designveloper in survival mode. We faced numerous trials and errors due to our lack of experience. Just fifteen days after our grand opening, I had to undergo appendix removal surgery, which was an unexpected setback. Despite these challenges, we persevered and continued to grow.

Four out of the six initial co-founders of Designveloper were my friends from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. Although we had little experience in both technical and company management, we supported each other and avoided stepping on each other’s toes. Together, we figured out how to survive and move the business to the next stage.

Advice for Young People

To me, there are three important things you should take control of: finance, health, and education. You must keep investing in these three areas and find a balance between them and other aspects of your life. The most important of all is education. Education is the shortcut to doing things the right way. Invest your time and money in education, and it will pay off nicely.
